LIV Golf Will Return to The Cardinal at Saint John’s in Plymouth
LIV Golf has confirmed it will return its Team Championship to metro Detroit, to again be played at Saint John’s Resort in Plymouth, one year after its inaugural entry into the Great Lakes State.
The dates are August 27-30, with sponsorship from Aramco. Last year’s event was well attended and capped off the entire summer season of pro tour golf in Michigan.
Last August, team Legion XIII, led by Team Captain and 2025 LIV Golf Individual Champion Jon Rahm, emerged victorious over Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC, that went to a two-hole team playoff.
“Welcoming LIV Golf to The Cardinal at Saint John’s Resort in 2025 was a unique opportunity to showcase what Saint John’s is capable of, while also advancing our Foundation’s mission, and the week exceeded every expectation,” Kevin Doyle, Chief Operating Officer of The Pulte Family Charitable Foundation said in a news release. “The League’s innovative approach is truly reshaping the game of golf both on and off the course, and we’re honored that our property has been selected to host the 2026 Team Championship. The feedback we received this past year from local residents and fans across the country was unbelievable – they were blown away by the atmosphere and the fun they had here, and we are looking forward to making an already world-class event even bigger and better in 2026.”
Crafted by renowned architect Raymond Hearn, The Cardinal opened in 2024 and consists of 200 acres of undulating terrain and Golden Age green contours that present a distinct challenge and risk/reward opportunities for many of the world’s best players. Owned by the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation and part of the Humanitarian Hotels initiative, 100% of the net profits from the property are used to support global charitable efforts that represent The Foundation’s mission of serving people in need.
“Team competition is at the core of our League, and our annual Team Championship is one of our biggest events of the year. From the course layout for team match play to the fan experiences to world-class concerts, Saint John’s Resort, Wayne County, and the state of Michigan were fantastic hosts for LIV Golf this past season, and we can’t wait to return next August,” said Ross Hallett, LIV Golf Executive Vice President, Head of Events. “We’re looking forward to working with the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation and the incredible team at Saint John’s Resort to build on the momentum from a successful 2025 finale as we set our sights on an exciting 2026 season ahead.”
Both in 2025 and again in 2026, the LIV event runs simultaneously to the PGA Champions Tour event in Grand Blanc. The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren announced recently that, at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club, it raised a total of $1,295,444 for charitable organizations in southeastern Michigan and beyond, surpassing the $1 million mark for the sixth time in the tournament’s short history.
